THE OPEN PIT MINE Senftenberg
The wealth of opencast lignite is located in Germany and is part of the huge operation of the pond in Lower Lusatia, near the border with Poland. Lignite, energy source and raw material advantageous (replacing coal) was extracted from the late nineteenth century and this production will steadily increase to reach a disproportionate extent in the former GDR, totally deprived of other energy resources .
The closure of the mine Senftenberg (Meuro) was held December 27, 1999 when it went the last train from Lignite. I photographed this large site in June 2000, shortly after were dynamited colossal excavators and other bridges carriers, which indeed has had the effect of reinforcing the devastating landscape while provoking the feelings a merciless.
Today, these rusted, witness another era are gone. This region, on behalf of a fuel, has been deeply torn slowly reborn from its ashes slopes have been flattened, gaping holes are transformed into lakes, land is re-cultivated and new forests are beginning to sprout. |

Bonjour Francis
La désolation et le gâchis, c'est effectivement ce que l'on ressent dans ce cliché. La taule arrachée au premier plan accentue l'effet.
Bravo et merci pour la note explicative.
Bon W.E.
