[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
To me this picture is symbolic of the child's journey into the future. He is walking through a dark stairway, but he can see the light up ahead, although he really doesn't know exactly what is around the corner. Still he does not worry; life is an adventure and he is excited about the bright place where he is going.

Sometimes I feel like a small child who is walking through a "dark stairway" on the journey of life, and I am tempted to fear, but I need to remember that even though the future is uncertain, it is bright. Many surprises wait in my future, so I must look at them as adventures, just like the little child does.

The boy in this picture is a very intelligent child who already knows three languages. I think his future will be very bright, but when he is older, I know he will walk through his own "dark stairways." I hope he will remember to look forward to the bright parts of life, and not to worry. "Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me."

Again a great shot of this kid. Your work with children is very good!
Nothing to add as for the tchnique. Everything is perfect, including the little motion blur on the kid which adds some more movement to the scene!
Great reflections, pleasant tone range, nice simetrical composition.
way to go!

An image that lets your imagination go freely... You have made good use of the light. The capture of the child with his hand on the hand rail is great. Well done!

Beautiful picture, Erin. I really like your composition with the light at the end of the stairway, very symbolic indeed. The boy is exactly in the right place in the photo. Good treatment as well. Excellent!

Great Image Erin, and the message is even more touching!

Hi Erin!
Impressive....very interesting POV.

Best Regards,
Crina

I like the extreme brightness in the foreground and the way the darkness engulfs the edges of the frame. Interesting reverse within the picture, he is going down to the light rather than up to it. The rail on the right side directs the eye down to him and enforces the perspective as well. It also makes me think of alien abduction, as he gets down the staircase he’ll be sucked up into the light… but that is only a matter of interpretation.

With all that’s going on around the kid he could get lost in the image, but the movement makes him the focus of attention, that and the fact that he is pretty much in the centre helps as well.

I like the picture, the texture versus the slick tile surface and the variation of light.

hi erin,
superb mood and composition! i like the light illuminating through the subject and timing of movement. his hand holding to rail also symbolizes guidance to the path to enlightenment from the darkness. tfs.
