[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This bollard I saw when I was walking through the small town of Stade. Stade once was an important hanseatic city in mediaevil times. I liked the look of the rope around the iron bollard. At first this picture was in colour but it didn't seem right to me.

I like the choosing of b&w to enhace the textures.
BUt I think also you may try framing diferent. there's a reflection on the water, also the rope hanging woud be nice to be included in the image

good choice of BW but your composition is too regular: you just tightly framed it, leaving equal margin around the thing.. would work better if it is placed off centre;
best regards - Tomasz

I tend to agree with Karl on the subject of the crane's reflection not being in the shot. Having the crane and its associated refelction in the frame would have placed the bollard off-centre (thus pleasing Tomasz too).
The shades are good, the choice to post in black & white I definately agree with. I have taken some similar pictures around our local Docks in Grimsby and they all came across better in B&W
Thanks for sharing your picture with us.

Howdy Heike!
Good shot. Very good lightness and sharpness. Good contrast. Sophisticated work.
