bridge by night

This is my first try on a nocturnal image with my new camera that I bought only some days ago.
I was in Köln (Cologne) in Germany and waited on the waterfront for a friend of mine. As the sun set in, I gave it a try. I took the picture with a small tripod that I fixed on the handrail.
This is the Hohenzollern Bridge that crosses the Rhine in front of the famous Cologne cathedral. Originally, the bridge was both a railway and street bridge, however after its destruction in 1945 and its subsequent reconstruction it was only accessible to rail and pedestrian traffic.
It is the most heavily used railway bridge in Germany.
pp: I adjusted contrasts and sharpness, cropped and resized and added a frame.
Any critiques, hints and comments are welcome.
thanks for watching, Heike |

Very nice work, good color and sharpness and very good handling of the very contrasty lighting of the bridge and the night sky.
I think there's a slight lean to the right of the bridge, maybe it distortion in the lens a bit or just a slight off vertical alignment of the camera, but other than that it's very good, nicely done.
Thanks,
Wilt
Allright! Congratulations on the D40x! Your now an official Nikonian! Welcome to the Club, and Ignore the Canonites, they will only try to stray you!
This is a very nice image, and very well done nocturnal exposure. These are hard to do, even with a tripod. I dont see any outwardly visible signs of camera shake, which is good.
With my crappy tripod I get it like crazy. I have to set the camera to self timer and shoot that way to avoid it.
Exposure is right on the money, I love the contrasty colors, the orange against the blue sky. This was very well done nagel.
Keep up the good work.
