While in Koblenz, we stopped and visited the Burg Lahneck Castle which was built originally in 1200. While stolling the grounds I snapped this view of the gate, and if one would happen to go through this gate, you would drop staight down. Very historic place to visit.

pp - crop, lighting filter to focus on gate, border.

what a wonderfull picture!
I like the light through the gate ... it indicated the path to follow ... maybe Excalibur stands right behind ;o))
Bravo!
Richard

Hello Greg,

I love gates and stone work. Your POV is very good and the low light really ads some mood. Great find! TFS

Hi Greg

I like the symmetry of the arched window & its repeated grate shape. Well framed. The tight cropping suits perfectly.

Interesting shot, Greg. I like your placement of the gate in the composition, with the darkness to the left. It's hard to expose correctly for this kind of light scenario, with the bright lighting situation above the gate. It's a good attempt, in that you've given us the vines and textures of the wall that we would have missed otherwise.

I'm glad you didn't try to walk through the gate! :)

Gayle

Greg,
Nice photo and interesting use of lighting on the gate. Interesting place. I would love to visit.
Keep shooting,
Aaron

Greg,

the lighting on this is rather nice. I marticularly like the magenta/violet fringing round the top of the entrance. It gives a mysterious hint about what is on the other side.

How was the fringing achieved? I am guessing that the brightness was an action of some type, but the fringing seems to be a different process... perhaps natural?

I think this is my favorite shot of yours. Love the green and the rust colored door.

You were lucky to find such a good location to make your shot.

Hi Greg!

Your shot remember an movie called: The Secret Garden!
Great composition!

TFS,
Chris

Nice shot Greg ... And an even better PP done to depict light coming from the opening above the gate! Give it a nice feeling :)

TFS,
Cheers
