Kit gave me a challenge and an assignment, "Chalk" and here is my answer, as seen in the Cologne Cathedral Square. This square is a fantastic place with jugglers, mimes, living statues, skaters, skateboarders, and remarkable artists in chalk. They do their drawings in the morning, leave their bowl for money, and come back the next day to do it over after the street cleaners have washed it clean, ephemeral beautiful art for a day. So, Kit, is this "Chalk"?

ISO 200, focal length 28.0 mm, cropped to remove street sweeping man in orange uniform, framed.

Hi Lois- not sure what Kit will say- but sure looks like an A+ for this assignment. I really like the colors - great composition! Kudos!

Best wishes,
Steve

My Goodness! You responded VERY well to such a casual challenge!
Not only did you get the chalk but you produce an A1 "chalk'.
The content and the framing, including all the artist's accoutrements PLUS his 'pose' PLUS his excellent work. Top Marks and a FLORENDO AWARD - which is totally imaginary but, in my imagination, is an eyeball on a stick all made from genuine plastic. Pity about losing the street-sweeper.
Can you be defeated?? Give us 'fingers' tomorrow?

Hello Lois;
It's a wonderful composition and perfect moment... The colors are very beautiful...
TFS my friend...
Keep well..
Salim.

an artful shot about producing art.
this looks familiar, although i never
really pay attention to the "artists" that
"paint" the Domplatte in front of the cathedral,
guess i have to next time i´m there.
great compostion and pov.
take care & have a nice weekend,
thor.

Nice job, Lois!! I like how you composed this shot and artist’s expression.
Well done!! Alla.

Yes, I think an A+ for this too. Good find Lois, well composed, good colours, and great art work too. TFS
Janice

Hello Lois,
Well composed... Interesting subject!
I like the way you bring the elements together here... Not only the action by the artist but also the result of what he is doing!
Good colours and details, the patterns in the square adds to the perspective...
Regards,
Pablo -

Bonjour Lois
Everything is softness in this take: No harsh colors nor distractive shadows.
But the greatest hit concerns the experienced posture of this gentleman, concentrating.
A pleasure for the eyes!
Congratulations.
Robert

Great composition, Lois. You managed to get the perfect angle. Good capture of the artist focussed on his creation, as if in admiration or respect. The blue tones blend well with the other colours, offering an appropriate and pleasing pastel look to the image.
