[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Besides the sidewalk artists, the Domplatte in front of the Cologne Cathedral also has living statues, who will move and smile (but not talk) when a coin is placed in the basket in front of them. The most popular was Charlie Chaplin as the "Little Tramp," all in silver except for his eyebrows and moustache which were black. When a girl or woman put money in his basket, he would lean forward, take her hand and kiss it. Sometimes the response was giggles, but not always. This little girl looks dubious, maybe a little anxious and her hand is slightly blurred because she's snatching it back. Here's what caused that expression, Charlie Chaplin as a silvery living statue.

Critiques [Translate]

Wimmern, dieses ist ausgezeichnet. Ich liebe die Farben und fülle an. Es erinnert mich total an Gatter Crashers. Aber in unterdessen esse ich irgendeinen Kuchen. Ja ja, sein sehr gutes mit etwas Bier! Geht Deutschland! Geschmack Gut!

Great directional pull! The composition does the job so well. Background is JUST blurred enough and any more would be detrimental, as it provides good environment without being unduly distracting; the two central figures being strong enough to carry the presentation.

Hi Lois- this is a beautiful moment captured - the gentleman's expression is very gentle, the girl's reaction is fantastic- the definition of a decisive moment- well done!

Well done, you captured a moment in time which will never recur. Wonderful sharp focus. You may have chosen f/3.5 to blur the background a little more but it is not that much disturbing.

This is a great photo, Lois!
The girls expression reminds me my first experience with street teathre in a big city. I've never seen something like this, and the artist havin been near the end put his hat off (a cilinder, but black1) and put it just in front of me....and I didn't react :(. I didn't knew what he was expecting of me.....I really understand this girl....:)

Her mama has taught her to be careful! Good for her! Nice candid moment...and I like the smiling lady in the background.
