Hi Ruth,

To be honest, I'm not so sure about this one.

Using the flash has compromised the quality of your photograph. Something I myself have done many times in the past. Whilst the framing, focus and sharpness is good, the lighting is too flat and the details of the feathers are lost. The brightness has also been effected.

Depending on available light (no photographers note so I'm not sure on your circumstances) you could have tried a greater aperture opening (F2.8 or F4) with a combination of a higher ISO setting to let more light in and avoid having to use auto flash.

Also, I find the light background colour at the top distracting. Probably unavoidable, however it could be easily fixed in post processing.
