[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a couple of the longhorn beetle
- Oberea oculata
- family: Cerambycidae
Obviously the male (above) is not well-orientated when production of off-spring is intended. However, I can't read the thoughts and do not know the preferences of beetles.

Nevertheless, I will show you a picture with the right orientation next time.

Species information
O. oculata occurs in the whole palaearctic region, i.e. Europe and Asia. The literature says that it likes willow bushes. That's just what you see on the picture (Salix caprea). It's populations are decreasing and O. oculata is common only at particular locations. I did not observe it in our region since many years. So, I am happy that I could detect a couple in our garden.
