[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Die Pflanze ist nach dem Botaniker Johann Gottfried Zinn benannt. Dieser hatte die Zinnien 1757 erstmals beschrieben als Rudbeckia foliis oppositis hirsutis ovato-acutis, calyce imbricatus, radii petalis pistillatis. Carl von Linné erkannte, dass es sich um keine Rudbeckie handelte und benannte die Art zu Ehren des 1759 verstorbenen Zinn Zinnia pauciflora.
Die Zinnie wurde 1790 von Mexiko nach Europa gebracht. Die Erstbeschreibung nahm Jacquin 1793 in Wien vor anhand einer rotblühenden Form. 1796 erhielt der Botanische Garten Madrid eine violettblühende Form. 1800 gelangte sie nach England. Nach Deutschland kam sie 1808 (Berlin). Die leicht über Samen zu vermehrende Art wurde rasch eine häufige Gartenpflanze. Es entstanden zahlreiche Farbvarianten. 1836 gab es bereits zehn Sorten.
1856 entstand in Frankreich ein gefüllte Variante. Zusätzliche Sorten entstanden wahrscheinlich durch Einkreuzung anderer Zinnien-Arten.
Heute gibt es eine Fülle von hohen wie niedrigen Sorten von 90 bis 30 Zentimetern Höhe in verschiedenen Farben und Füllungen.

The plant is named after the botanist Johann Gottfried tin. This had described the tin ions 1757 for the first time as a Rudbeckia foliis oppositis hirsutis ovato acutis, calyce imbricatus, radios petalis pistillatis. Carl of Linné recognized, concerned and named that it no Rudbeckie the type in honor of the 1759 deceased tin Zinnia pauciflora. The Zinnie was brought 1790 from Mexico to Europe. The first description took Jacquin 1793 in Vienna before based on a red blooming form. The botanical garden Madrid received 1796 a violet blooming form. It arrived 1800 to England. To Germany, it came 1808 (Berlin). The easy type to be increased over seed became quick a frequent garden plant. Numerous color variants emerged. There were 1836 already ten sorts. 1856 emerged in France a variant filled. Additional sorts been caused probably by on intersection of other tin ions types. Today there is an abundance of high like low sorts of 90 to 30 centimeter heights in different colors and filling.
