Wheel of Flames
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The fire-breather and fire-eater really impressed me...or was it the fire? I can't tell.
Coming to the end of his show he held two burning ropes, each approx. half meter long. Then he started to swing them and however he did it exactly, he produced figures looking like an angel's wing or - like in this case - a wheel of flames.
The stage behind the artist was lit in an awful blue. So I decided to change the background. I reduced the brightness and then changed the background to a mood called "old newspaper" in PaintShopPro9 at 30%. After that I reduced the blue level to bring out the inner structure of the fire a bit better.
I know that the wheel is not perfectly round due to the movement of the artist's arms and the movement of the ropes. And a fire is a "living thing", it doesn't burn with the same strength on every section of the ropes. But I like the effect of the fire. And I hope you like it too.
Any comments and critiques are as always appreciated.

Britta |

Hello Britta. This is a superb shot. Well done with the choice of exposure settings. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Britta,
Nice one again. I agree with you that the performance of the fire eater would be most impressive in front of a completely dark BG. So I would suggest to crop or cover even the spotlights.

Thomas
