dear Tibi,
not only "transparent" but also "mirror" device, this elegant glass wings really have.
this reflection looks the surface of the ice-crystal.
I think its biological advantage may be not "transparent" but "mirror" to guard it from enemies...
anyway in this shot, the butterfly is shining silver insect on the green before black space. very elegant figure.
