Die Tulpe stammt aus der Türkei und wurde von Carlos Clusius in die Niederlande gebracht. Als Präfekt des Hortus Botanicus in Leiden, der bis zum heutigen Tag besteht, pflanzte Cludius 1593 eine Tulpenzwiebel in diesem botanischen Garten.
Im Frühjahr 1594 blühte dort die erste Tulpe; sie markierte den Beginn der Blumenzwiebelkultur in den Niederlanden.

The tulip originates from Turkey and of Carlo Clusius into the Netherlands was brought. As Präfekt of the Hortus Botanicus in suffering, which exists up to the today's day, Cludius planted 1593 a tulip bulb in this botanischen garden. In the spring 1594 there the first tulip flowered; it marked the beginning of the flower bulb culture in the Netherlands.
