[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
It's actually a part of a rusty car standing at the side of a road, and I was just lucky to pass by and notice it. It doesn't really matter what it is, I feel, it's supposed to be an abstract photo.

It's from my first months of active photography about 15 years ago, so I had to scan it from a print and then sharpen it again, but the original had a very shallow DOF, it was meant to be this way, slightly blurred it looks more like an abstract painting than like part of a rusty car... At least that's what I thought at that time, maybe today I would shoot this differently, who knows...?

Interesting composition Frank with this diagonal, and the orange and burgundy facing each other. The little bits of blue and orange increase the complexity nicely. The texture looks incredible with all these bubbles... I wish it was sharper (but that's me :) )! Good job and well seen! Regards, Julien.

Interesting product, I like the range of colours and textures.

Very interesting contrast of colours & a wonderful abstract, Frank! I like your composition that might get us to guess that this is a car (but then again maybe I am seeing it because you mentioned it in your note) but at the same time it looks like a painting. Very nice texture as well. Well done!

I THOUGHT U CLICKED A PAINTING FRANK :D... LOL! HA HA! Good composition... :D .. I love the colors :D esp. the yellow... isnt it BEAUTIFUL! :D... Wish it was sharper at the blues and the greys! Next time... Sharper oki HA HA ! LOL! See You... :) Thanks for sharing :D

Take care....
- Hima.

Wow, that is a great abstract shot that you captured. Good eye. It looks just like an abstract oil painting you would see in a gallery.

Regards,

Tom

Unas texturas muy interesantes que con los colores primarios (rojo, amarillo y azul) todavía las hacen más interesantes. Felicitaciones.

Very interesting textures that with the primary colors (red, yellow and blue) still make them more interesting.
Congratulations.

It's an interesting take Frank. Your photo got me thinking (and that's what matters sometimes, isn't it? haha! ;p)...I was thinking about the shallow DOF you mentioned. Normally we select a shallow DOF to highlight a particular area of focus and it's to bring the attention of the viewer to that particular area and blur the rest of the background.

In your shot, you purposely blur the area of interest to make it look like an abstract painting. I get your point but I'm not used to that..I'm normally attracted to the sharper area of a photo first. I'm not saying your photo is bad, in the contrary, it made me realise that we shouldn't take anything for granted: Forget the norm, rules are made to be broken.

Very good! Have a nice day Frank! TFS

At first look I thought it was the ground with water and a worm. I found about it only after I read your note. It really fooled me. Making an abstract painting out of it is a very good idea.

Thank you again for commenting on my work, "Beauty on the Stairway".

Andre'

Nice work, interesting. Great colours.
Nino

Not that sharp, but I like the colours in this picture Frank.

Don

Deffinetly abstract. You've nicely shown how the rust eats away the rest of the "healthy" metal.

Peeling paint on metal makes for a nice abstract! Good composition with a diagonal line and good mix of colours. Good job!

Hello Frank,
The colour of corrosion is one of my favorites, it works well with almost any other colour! This is a nice composition, with the diagonal (weld?) linking the rusty with the deep red... The light blue giving contrast to your work - A nice one!

Pablo
