I thought I might just as well join in the theme of unusual self-portraits...

At the same time it's a pretty normal autumn leaves photo, that's why I have given this a double title... :)

To be honest, at first I wanted to take a photo of the leaves, and then I noticed the self-portrait, afterwards I took three more photos of the leaves that may be nicer composition-wise, but only here you can see the self-portrait well, so I decided to post this one...

Frank

P.S.: Have a look at my intro photo (so no guy with lots of curly hair), and then consider that you can only see the upper right (from my perspective) half of my head, and bear in mind that it's distorted horizontally a lot...

P.P.S.: Changed the original title
"Unusual Self-Portrait / Autumn Leaves" to Chris' suggestion that I really like... :)

Hi Frank,
Seems you just critiqued yourself in the note. The compo was what I was going to mention...but, you beat me to it. Anyhow...you're in the shot? I assume it's a water reflection, but, I don't know where...how about pointing it out for me? Thanks.
Take care.
Richard

wow tres grande qualité d'image et superbe couleurs.

OK, Frank. I looked and looked, and even read the reply for Richard, but I must be blind today because I DO NOT SEE your reflection at all. :) Anyway, I like these leaves, and the light you had is perfect.

Katya

I also didn't see you in the shot. Are you at the bottom of the frame?

Nice color rendition and detail!
Congratulations!
João

On the contrary, Frank - I think the composition is wonderful. I like the layers here - leaves, water, rocks. Your focus is extremely sharp resulting in a very cleare image. The leaves are in a Yin/Yang-like position. The little pool of water in the upper leaf, very nice detail. You aleays do right by me and give me excellent critiques. I am looking at this image very critically, and the only thing that I can think of is that I don't see the self-portrait. That is the best I can come up with, Frank. It really is a beautiful image - one of my favorites.

Hi Frank,
It is a nice composition, but I do not see you in the picture. So I fin dthe title somewhat puzzling.
Sunil

Hi Frank,

Nice image. I really like the colors of the leaves. (No comment on the self-Portrait :) )TFS.

Kiran.

Ermm, I don't understand the self portrait Frank.
I can't see you on the reflection as well.

Anyways, it's a great autumn leaves photo. Love the texture, colour and absolute sharpness. Is that a new camera btw? I heard very good things about the pentax ist DS. Looks very good indeed. Well done Frank :)

Hi Frank, I've gone cross-eyed here looking for you, but I'll believe that you are there!! You did take the photo...
I like the shadows from the leaves with the low sun in the sky. The autumn colours look good, the water and pebbles giving them an added glow. Nice one Frank, not my colours, but I would put it up on my wall:)

Hi Frank

I like the shallow dof & superb sharpness & the 2 contrasting leaves. Excellent use of tight framing & cropping. Good work.

This is really nice. I love Autumn leaves, and this is extra pleasing with the water and stones.

Also, this photo is selling the Pentax *ist DS to me, even more! The details look so great!

Hi Frank,
A beautiful reproduction of the texture and colours of the leaves! Good idea letting them float on water, and the pebbles on the bottom add different forms without being intrusive... But honestly... self-portrait? Unless you're a leaf it is hard for me to discover! Hehehehe...
Regards,
Pablo -

i love the colours, their so subtle and yet you can tell that they're starting to turn the beautiful yellows and reds. some of the trees here, have started turning colours, and although they're a long way away, it's going to be a photographers heaven soon enough. I'll make sure to get shots in!

Anyway thanks for the words of encouragement yesterday!
cheers
-Bart

Just like Katya, I must be blind today! I like the floating leaves though, it is pretty!

And, thank you for your comments on my photo, "Legs".

Andre'

I have a "thing" about leaves, so I LOVE this photograph! I tried and tried to see your self-portrait, but failed - I'm not always very good at seeing things. That's ok, because to me, these leaves are more beautiful than a dozen roses! The light, colors and shadows are just gorgeous. If this was the "bad" shot, I'd love to see the good ones!

Excellent capture and very well composed. You manage to control the lighting very well, Frank. Nice mood and sharpness. I like it very much but I still couldn't find your reflection. The frame is nice as well, Frank. TFS.
Lawrence

i cant see the self portrait! :D But I love the colour of the leaves. We do not have autumn in our part of the world, but we have the monsoon. I like the simplicity and the colours here. TFS

Hallo Frank,

Klasse gemacht! Thomas

NIce shot and great mood with autumn colours. Good job Frank.

Frank,
First of all, it's such a beautiful photo of the autumn leaves. Secondly, the natural colours, sharpness, details and - especially the composition - makes it a lovely photo to look at. So...I looked and looked but still cannot find you! So, where are you hiding??

Shelly:)))
