[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Taken with my little point and shoot camera out the window next to the table where I was eating breakfast as the cruise ship, Viking Sun, pulled away from its mooring at Kehl, Germany on its way down the Rhine. It was a very grey and gloomy day making the pedestrian bridge from German to France even more dramatic and architecturally interesting. The ship is on the German side of the Rhine, the far bank of the river is in France.

Note to self: This is not weird; strange, but not weird.

ISO 160, focal length 7.9 mm, cloned out distracting buoys on the far side, colors are accurate representation of the day and are as is, framed

Proof that most of the photo is its composition and the vision and care with which it was taken and processed, and only the rest is the gear. Good shot. I have friends (fellow interpreters) who, whenever they are in Strasbourg and have the time, take a bus over to Kehl to dine. I'll suggest them the pedestrian bridge. ;) Nice compo. Maybe I would have cropped some of the water.

I agree with Attila. The strength of this composition is the curving diagonal of the main structure and the mass of diagionals of the support. The water element is important but maybe there is too much down below and a more letterbox final crop would be even stronger.
The 'journalist' presentation as opposed to the 'mad scientist' experimental feel. Maybe this would have been a winner if the colour was transformed ... MY BLUE HAVEN?

Bonjour Lois,
I like the curves vs the lines. Your POV is well on time and the rule of thirds is respected. Nice shot and good comment. Congratulations!
Happy New Year!

Very nice architectural picture, Lois, with a nice curve captured in the bridge. Maybe a bit tight on the left but other very nicely composed. The gray tone created by the dull light gives a nice texture to the picture. Well done!
