| I always love aeroplanes but on my recent trip to crete i discobvered the joy of plane spotting. My hotel was very close to the aeroport! This one was a very large aeroplane and made quite a huge roar as it took off. |

Hi there,
no wonder it made a huge noise, it's a Ilyoushin IL 96-300, russian production. The 300 version still uses Soloviev PS90A turbofans that do not meet all european and us standards regarding noise regulation. The other versions of the IL 96 have more silent and powerfull engine (russian and western made)
Enjoy planes!!
