Boats at Panormos
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Another picture taken during our recent holiday in Crete, this time of some boats near the jetty at Panormos, a small seaside village about 20 miles east of Rethymno. The water was crystal-clear and I liked the reflections of the ripples on the hull of the nearest boat.
Shot in RAW and converted and edited in PSE6.

hi John realy nice shot grt colours excellent reflections on the water tfs
regards bryan
ps enjoy your hols
Hello John,
I'm not sure when someone refers to a shot being a postcard, that it is a compliment or not. Sometimes it might be referring to a run of the mill image that every Tom, Dick or Harry would buy to send home.
I once knew a photographer who had made a nice little income from a Scottish scene that he had managed to sell to one of the big postcard firms many years ago. So, not a thing to be sniffy about!
However, if I say that this is a postcard shot, I mean it in the best possible way. That is, an image that has captured the essence of a holiday place, and one you will look back on with pleasure years from now.
This is indeed, a very attractive photograph – the clean red white and blue colours of the boats as they float on the transparent water fill the foreground of the composition, while the sharp square-edged houses on the slope behind the little beach, and the clear blue sky make a fine backdrop.
Beautifully sharp and clear as I have come to expect from all your postings.
Well Done!
Kind regards,
Peter.
The over-all colors work well together. The red roofs of the houses really complement the redon the boats.
