In Kastoria's Folk Museum

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Kastoria was built in early byzantine times on the site of ancient town Keletron and took its name from the many beavers living at its lake (kastor, means beaver in Greek). A wall around it was built by the emperor Justinian in 6th century. It flourished in 11th to 14th centuries as a place of exile of many noblemen, who built a lot of beatiful churches, very well decorated, the most of them existing today, and in 16th to 19th centuries, thanks to beavers' fur trade, reaching Europe's ends.
Quite a big part of its districts have been kept intact since post-byzantine time. Folk Museum is housed in a 17th century's mansion-house, rich in antiques.
Photo shot on slide film, scanned on a film scanner and processed in Photoshop and Neat Image.
*I didn't find Kastoria's perfecture among the choices, so I put Pella's. |
