A rock-fresco by Great Prespa lake
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
In late-byzantine era, many ascetic monks lived on the Great Prespa lake's shores, the most of them in rock-caves. Here, an icon of "Panagia i Panton Hara" (i.e. Mother of God, the All-people's joy") and an inscription underneath, painted on the rock and dated in the 14th century, outside an ascetic cave near Psarades village. (A photo of the cave you can see in TrekEarth: http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/photo853261.htm).
Photo processed in Photoshop.
(I selected Pella prefecture instead of Florina, because I couldn't find the later among the choices provided.) |
