Shooting lightning has always been a challenge to me...
After much experimentation, I have come to a few gudelines:
- Choose a place protected from rain and wind.
- Place your camera on a tripod and turn it to the general direction where you expect lightning from.
- Set slowest shutter speed and maximum negative compensation.
- Focus on a distant object or infinity.
- Set timer and release shutter.
- Always expect that most shots will be unsuccessful...
