Posting #14 from my trip to Meteora. Here you can see at the side of the monastery, the escape ladder in case of need. I don't know what would be more dangerous the invaders or the ladder?
Meteora is from the biggest and most important group of monasteries in Greece after those in Mount Athos. We can locate the first traces of their history from 11th c. when the first hermits settled there. The rock monasteries have been characterized by Unesco as a unique phenomenon of cultural heritage and they form one of the most important stations of cultural map of Greece.

That ladder looks a bit scary but I suppose the danger from the other side will determine the choice. It looks like the plants are trying to hide the building. Must have been growing there for many years. Stunning image as usual.

Hello Vassilis, I agree with you, the ladder is as dangerous as the invaders :)

Very nice pov you have here, with the monastary covered with ivy, the beautiful sky in the bg.

Very impressive! Take care, Yan :)
p.s. Thank you very much for your review on my "Untying the Knot" photo.

Better then a rope... we have a ladder! But at the bottom it look it have to finish by a jump :)
Great presentation!

I think I'd prefer the ladder over the way the women and children "escaped" in Ανάβατος in χίος, Βασίλη.
Your compo sure emphasizes the steepness and height of the place. Excellent PoV.
TFS.

Hi Vassilis,
A very interesting detail in that ladder, seems like it ends in thin air!? The nuns have to be athletes to make use of that...
Image is well framed with good details, the angle of lighting is good to you...
A nice composition with fine natural colours!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Now that looks like one dangerous escape route!
Excellent POV of the monastery surrounded in all that green grass. I really like how we can see in the distant bg the snow capped mountain. Beautiful warm colours & lighitng.

Very well composed & presented!

Hi Vasilis,
Very good detail, this ladder! I like your composition which shows the precarious position of this monastery but also the beautiful mountains . Very natural colors and details Bravo! Annie

Vassilis,
I do remember me Meteora as a very special area in Greece.
I believe it is the beginning of a high flat. Special foggy air very mystique.
On you photo it is quit clear and can see some snow on top.
Good impression of the monastery there

To hot the passed days to be behind the computer but now is a little cooler. Your photo:
Beautiful capture and well done on the composition and details. Are you sure it is an escape route? not a ladder to be climbed for young men in the night to kiss the Sisters goodnight? ^_^ Compliment Vassilis
it is 110% a master painting of the great *Sinopoulous* Efcharistoh! and points later

Hi Vassilis,
This ladder looks very insecure and seems to far from the ground, It surely needs an excellent reason to use it. I like your photo with this excellent lighting the greens in front and this beautiful monastery with great textures and colors. very well done.

Hi Vassilis

Wonderful perspective & sharpness, & a superb pov. Tfs!

Hi Vassilis,
Good perspective of the monastery. The red tile as well as the green on the foreground and the blue on the background create good contrast. And oh yes the snow-capped mountain from a distance adds an important pleasing element. Very well composed. Best wishes.

Rob

Nice details of the construction of the monastery! It is remarkable how they have built those monastery in harmony with the landscape. Indeeed , a very good thing they are now protected.

I wish these days new constructions, would also take more care about the environment.
Cheers!

I don't think I'd like to climb down the ladder in the middle of the night - or daytime! Good composition Vassilis and your POV show us the steepness of the place and the colours very well. TFS

Great POV and composition - the view, background an foreground blend nicely to amaze the viewer. I wonder who takes care of that nice green plant growing on the mountain side. TFS,
