Shot in the resurrection service. On Athos, as in all the Orthodox Christian churches round the world, some minutes after midnight all light is put of, except of an oil-lamp on the Altar. Then the chief-priest lightes his candle from it and comes on the altar-gate chanting: "Come and receive light from the un-setting light and glorify Christ, risen from the dead". And the faithful come to the gate, to light their candles from his. And so, resurrection service starts.
I adjusted only brightness and contrast in Photoshop, preffering to leave red candles' light as it is. |
