[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I choose the rooms that I live in with care
The windows are small and the walls almost bare
There's only one bed and there's only one prayer
I listen all night for your step on the stair

by Leonard Cohen, stanza from the song "Tonight will be fine" from the album Songs from a Room.

In 1974, we tried to follow the hippie trail that Leonard Cohen had started in the late sixties when it came to light that he had spent some years on the Greek island of Hydra, writing poems and the songs that brought him fame later. I have no photos of the sparsely furnished room on Peloponnes, that always reminded me of Leonard's song above, but a friend of ours, a painter, dropped by and drew this little sketch which found its way into the photo album. And somehow, for those who know Mr Cohen's style of drawing, this is also reminiscent of that.

Technically this is probaly stretching the TOS a bit far, but the scanning of the 4x6 sketch and the PP work was just like working on a photo, and sometimes we distort our photos to look like this, don't we?

So, Cohen's back - and in Greece, even! Technically, I think you could have used your camera instead of a scanner, Per. That would be stretching the TOS a bit less ;o). Also technically, you might have removed a few spots of black on the wall. Last technical remark: you might have removed some wall lines that found their way into the table. I think the walls were drawn first and the table was added later, and that caused the mix-up. The same thing happened with the knee and the couch ;o).

This being said, I really like the drawing. I don't know LC's drawing style, but I think your friend captured a great mood here. I've seen rooms in Greece that looked very much like this one. TFS.

Quite agree with your notes, well done on the PP work less is more and I like it very much.

Great sketch, great scan of a sketch and great pp work. Is your friend still drawing? Lovely digital capture. Well done.

Peter

Excelent work, Per. The work payed off.
Well done.

Mike

I liket the style of this sketch, leaves a lot of room to see into the figures ideas as he lies on the bed reading. The type writer ever ready for them to the side.

Do you also write music and lyrics Per? And perhaps play music?
