[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
At Stavroniketa Monastery. This Monastery, the smallest on Athos, was built ca. 1000 AD, perhaps by a man called Nikitas the squint-eyed (stravos in Greek). After 1200 AD it was dispeopled and a dependency of other Monasteries. It was rebuilt and enlarged in 1540 by the Patriarch of Constantinople Jeremiah 1st. In 1546 its church and refectory were decorated by the famous painter Theophanes the Cretan. From 1968 till 2005 it was totally restored.
The tower is dated in the begining of 11th century.
Photo shot on b-w film, developed and printed in my darkroom. I scanned the print and processed it in Photoshop and Neat Image.
