Once, Dionysus found his old schoolmaster and foster father, the satyr Silenus, missing. The old satyr had been drinking wine, and had wandered away drunk, and was found by some Phrygian peasants, who carried him to their king, Midas. Midas recognized him, and treated him hospitably, entertaining him for ten days and nights with politeness, while Silenus entertained Midas and his friends with stories and songs. On the eleventh day he brought Silenus back to Dionysus in Lydia. Dionysus offered Midas his choice of whatever reward he wanted. Midas asked that whatever he might touch should be changed into gold. Midas rejoiced in his new power, which he hastened to put to the test. He touched an oak twig and a stone and both turned to gold. Overjoyed, as soon as he got home, he ordered the servants to set a feast on the table. "So Midas, king of Lydia, swelled at first with pride when he found he could transform everything he touched to gold: but when he beheld his food grow rigid and his drink harden into golden ice then he understood that this gift was a bane and in his loathing for gold cursed his prayer"
Now he hated the gift he had coveted. He prayed to Dionysus, begging to be delivered from starvation. Dionysus heard and consented; he told Midas to wash in the river Pactolus. He did so, and when he touched the waters, the power passed into the river, and the river sands became changed into gold. This explained why the river Pactolus was so rich in gold and the wealth of the dynasty claiming Midas as forefather, no doubt the impetus for this etiological myth.

have a great sunny weekend,
v
ps.Not too much PP, just some contrast and colors saturation enhancement. Yep, and rotation of course.
pps. This is another image I was considering for the "colours palette" theme

Hi vlad

Interesting take on the usual sunset shot, & aptly titled. Tfs!

i do not understand your reason for the rotation. put my monitor on its side to appreciate the sunset.
sorry.

Excelenta paleta de culori si frumoasa legenda.

Weekend fain,
sorina

When I hear the name midas I think of a lion or wolf and on the photo you can (with a little imagination think of the sun shining on his hair.
The straight vertical line let me think of the side of a glass
But when I turn my head I see also a beautiful sunset
TFS
Cynthia

I understand your reason for the rotation. my monitor is OK to appreciate the sunset.
happy!
ciao
Lucio

Frumos, dar nici mie nu-mi place rotita asa, chiar nu-i vad farmecul. Ar fi fost mult mai bine normal, dupa parerea mea...

Hi Vlad,
Nice picture! Great colours and a beautiful sunset!
But I think I wouldn't rotate the picture, but that's my opinion! ;) TFS!!
Vivianne

How creative to rotate this and get this wonderful effect Vlad. The vertical lines would indeed have been perfect for the theme, as one shade goes to another. I very much like the abstract you have created and applaud your creativeness. Love the story.
Warm Regards

Hello Vlad

I liked the history of Mida
" Midas' touch makes difference",
Therefore that all final in the afternoon the gold shines again!
Beautiful visual and explanatory text.
Congratulations

Sérgio

Foarte interesanta idee si de efect, sa rotesti imaginea in acest mod. Imi plac mult lumina si marea de aur. Ce mai, trebuie sa ma duc si eu prin locurile astea...

TFS,
Andreea
