[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
On Sunday evening we met up with Vassilis, Tanya, Con, Eleni and Ilianna for a nice dinner and some night photography afterwards.

This is a view on the Erechtheion, on the northside of the Akropolis. From this PoV, the well-known statues of the Karyatides are on the backside of the building.

Another crop from this PoV can be found in the ws section.

I had some trouble finding the tripod coupling plate which I had removed from the camera earlier that morning... I had just put it in a different compartment than usual, which shows that sometimes I can be quite a chaotic person ☺^☺.

Tech talk

Preprocessing

Of course I used a tripod.

Settings: manual. Don't trust your camera's speed/aperture settings in night photography. See what the camera suggests, then use half the speed and/or stop down the aperture.

Postprocessing

Crop close around the Erechtheion to show more detail.

Adjustment layers for slight tweaks in levels and curves.

Downsized for TL, framed and signed.

I'll be on TL irregularly this week-end.

Great ancient structure. Captured well Frank. I'm tempted to cropped the black sky a little bit, but I'm sure you are happy with it. My respect to your work, co artist.
Dennis

Hi Frank,
Very nice night shot, very well done on the lighting, along with very helpful notes on the experience.
The crop here is very effective and the whole image has a very interesting, almost ghostly, quality to it.
Well done,
TFS,
Wilt

Hi Frank
I really like this compo. Mainly the contrast between the illuminated antquities and the dark skay that create two fifferent but complementary units, nicely dividing the frame in two.
I just like it
TFS and have a great week

I like it,wonderful job Frank...

Thanks for the kind words on "Insect S1".

Hi Frank,
I love the striking contrast of the building. It is making the building more prominent with a dark background. Great details and clarity as well.

I see DINGO was here too - more graffiti???? That Dingo seemed to follow you around the Greek Isles.
Good to see these historical places that we hear about. It is nicely lit up Frank, and well done with the tripod.
Cheers
Janice

Sorry Frank ...

Just my " 2 dollar "
( ik ga mee met de inflatie )

I'll be on TL irregulary the comming years

Hi Frank,
While seeing Your photos I just started to realize how much I lost not being here on TL regularly this year (due to lack of sparetime. Maybe You remember me a bit)... Man, this is one of the most fantastic night shots I've ever seen. Wonderful lights (without OE at all... congratulations!), details on the building (You were right about cropping the original shot) and the sky simply seems like a fine black carpet. Your sign's also like belonging to the building and was placed pretty carefully.
An absolute masterpiece. Bravo bravissimo.
Best regards from Hungary, László
