[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
On Sunday evening we met up with Vassilis, Tanya, Con, Eleni and Ilianna for a nice dinner and some night photography afterwards.

This is a view on the Parthenon, on the southside of the Akropolis. The arches in the wall are on top of the entrance to the theatre of Herodes Attikos.

Tech talk

Preprocessing

Of course I used a tripod.

Settings: manual. Don't trust your camera's speed/aperture settings in night photography. See what the camera suggests, then use half the speed and/or stop down the aperture. For this particular shot I used 3 exposures just to make sure... the Parthenon was well iluminated, the wall wasn't as bright.

Postprocessing

In-camera compo, just levelled out.

No adjustment layers, no tweaks in levels nor curves. As said, the contrast in brightness between Parthenon and wall was so big that I made a couple of exposures. What I did was: copy the sky and the Parthenon to a new layer in the shot where it was darkest - then copied that layer to a shot where the wall was brighter.

Cloned out some lights of a passing plane.

Downsized for TL, framed and signed.

I'll be on TL irregularly this week-end.

Congrats for an excelent work, mb

Hello Frank,

Again a very good night photo from Greece! Excellent clarity of details and exposure. I think I would cut from the right or better from the left side to make the main building more out of center. TFS
Have a good week,

Stunning lighting Frank - sharp and clear image - will they ever get the scaffolding off these building? Appreciate the notes as well

Thanks for the recent visit.

Dan

Deze vind ik beter dan de vorige Frank : zowel de compositie
( verhouding met het zwarte ) en de warme belichting
spreken me aan !
Goeie PP ook.
