Hello! A redhead today, not Fly Agaric (Amanita muscaria), but a delicious one from Leccinum genus. I'm in trouble with ID specification, but there are 2 possibilities: it's either Leccinum aurantiacum or Leccinum versipelle. Rather the latter one, I guess... Sometimes it's difficult to identify Leccinum species without microscopic study.

Both L. aurantiacum and L. versipelle need mycorrhysa connection. It's a special kind of metabolism (if I use the right word for it), where both parties are supporting each other. Some fungi, which grow on the ground, not on wood, don't need it at all, for some the tree specie don't count, while some build the mycorrhysa with only one given tree specie. Both L. aurantiacum and L. versipelle belong to the 3rd group, they're specialized to one tree specie exclusively: L. aurantiacum to poplar (Populus tremula), while L. versipelle to birch (Betula pendula). Where I found this piece, there were both birch and poplar, so it didn't help me in ID.

"Leccinum" genus is having 15 species (10 in Europe), all on the Northern hemisphere (Europe, Asia, North America), from arctical to subtropical lands. Except one (L. piceinum) each is specialized to decidous tree species and each is edible.

A very similar image, showing this piece is already uploaded to TrekNature. But that photo's NOT the cropped version of this! It can be seen from exif info. This photo shows the whole scene around the mushroom, while the other is a super macro shot concentrating on the fungus only.
