This shot was taken on the way home from Oslo, Norway. I wasn't really in a good mood sitting on the plane with a freshly broken elbow, I couldn't even take my cam. out of the case. So I had to borrow my friend's Olympus C370z to make shots of these marvellous clouds from above!! Like a huge whipped cream it was floating in the air and growing wildly to cause a big storm down there!
If you're interested in these clouds here's some more info:
Cumulonimbus clouds are much larger and more vertically developed than fair weather cumulus. Fueled by vigorous convective updrafts, the tops of cumulonimbus clouds can easily reach 12km or higher.
Lower levels of cumulonimbus clouds consist mostly of water droplets while at higher elevations, where temperatures are well below 0 degrees Celsius, ice crystals dominate. Under favorable atmospheric conditions, harmless fair weather cumulus clouds can quickly develop into large cumulonimbus clouds associated with powerful thunderstorms known as supercells.

So as much as I like taking shots from clouds and thunderstorms from the ground it is as interesting shooting them from above!

N-joi! :)

Hi Tom, fabulous one with the monochromatic cloud formation. The textures and gradients are amazing and the frame works well here. I guess/hope your elbow is better now.
Regards from Rotterdam, Bert.

Amazing shot, Tom! you did a great job! these clouds seem unreal, a kind of dream! very nice!

Hi ToM,
second time i see this photo today, on the first i didn't know what to say to it, and now i'm again stucked. Well i will solve that with only two words: Fantastic !! and Perfect !!

Be well
António

Very unusual clouds picture, Tom, as we normally see them from underneath. I also think it looks like cotton balls all squeezed together. You also got some interesting colours and contrast in it. Your frame complement this picture really well. Bravo!

P.S. Glad to hear the elbow is better!!!

Brilliant shot ToM from a great angle. Looks almost like smoke from a huge fire. Great colour tones and detail. Nice capture

Hi Tom Pelle,
Wow!! What an awesome capture of the Cumulonimbus. When I look at this picture, I thought it was a very close-up shot of volcanic explosion. The frame also completes the picture. TFS.
Lawrence

Hi Tom
I am so glad your mood has changed! Because even the thunderclouds clear up... so did the pain...
Fantastic mood shot.
The clouds from the bottom is apparently flat...

Very cool picture- great choice of a sepia tone. I like the font you chose for your title on the frame- very nice.

Whenever I take a plane ride, I always try to get the window seat. The first time I ever flew, I was probably 8, I was stuck in the middle seat. I spent half the time stretched out over the poor old man next to me with my face pressed up to the window. I had never seen the tops of clouds before. The old man was very gracious and offered his seat to me half way through the trip and I just wordlessly slid over. There is nothing better than the view from a plane. This shot just kind of reminded me of that one trip. Thanks for sharing the picture!

Amazing shot Tom, great details, well captured, great to see the cloud up closed like this. Oh dear, I hope your elbow is getting better? Take care my friend... thanks for sharing. :)

Oh no! What did you do with your elbow ToM? And has it healed up well by now? I hope so.
Awesome shot of the cumulonimbus clouds. (What a mouthful to say!). With the colours they look more like fire-smoke. It is a fantastic shot, well done.

Nice picture ! Very well shot ! Well done !

Simply incredible! They look so angry and boiling. Great contrast and nice, simple composition (no distracting plane wing or other elements). Superb!

Tom,
Excellent shot! I like the border and text, too!!! WOW! I love strange storm clouds like this. We get these supercells often in the late spring-early summer due to the front range of mountains to the west and the plains to the east. Awesome to watch.
Keep shooting,
Aaron

Wonderful shot ToM! What to say? Great work...
Tomasz

Well, at university I study the clouds...at home I see them on Tl...not bad!

Hey Tom,
Great clouds you have captured here. Nice and fluffy. Did you take this photo from a plane?
Great photo!!
