Hanging around in Budapest....and it's not what you think!

To make it clear the figure is not being hanged, but he is holding the beam with his left hand and he's never getting tired! It's not very clear due to lack of contrast of the sculpture. The figure is facing towards the dome. This sculpture is part of an art route around the Buda Castle in Budapest. A very nice part of this impressive city.

Found this photo in my ‘photo shoebox’ scanned it and reworked colours, contrast and saturation. It’s in respect of quality not a perfect picture. Still I think it’s (due to the humorous factor) TL- worthy

Buda Castle

This was the residence of Hungarian kings. The fortification system and palace, built in the 13th century following the Mongol invasion, was destroyed and rebuilt many times, and being renewed from time to time symbolizes the country itself. Built on medieval foundations, the Renaissance structures were destroyed by the Turks.

Alaettin

Hello Hans, well it is quite funny indeed! And your title is very well chosen.

The quality as you say may not be the best but it is worth uploading, I like signs, lots of them are very interesting and special. They take good pride in making something special and different. There is a lot in creativity in many of them.

Very well done! Yan :)

ps: Many thx for your review on "For Dawson College's Grief".

TFS !
Marcel

hi Hans,

really nice photo. funny a bit. but well done! and a frame fits here very well, connects with a hanging person. i like it much.

regards, pawel

I think this person hanging here looks like Sigmund Freud. Of course his friend and colleauge Sandor Ferenzi was hungarian... but anyway great capture

Nice shot, i like the perspective and the POV, congratulations Great job my friend, is just excellent, the idea is funny

Browsing through your gallery to see some of your older pictures, Hans, and I came across another one that brought back some good memories. I was in Budapest in 1999 and I really like that city. You have captured a nice scene with the sculpture contrasting nicely against the castle; could be seen as quite symbolic. I might have straigthen the perspective a bit and crop at the bottom to eliminate the head of the horse but otherwise it is quite nicely done!

P.S. Looking through your gallery I have noticed that you have gone with bigger and bigger frames for your pictures and I must admit that I prefer them like this one with a simple frame with very small writing at the bottom. Just my own preference.

Hi Hans,
Well seen and funny shot !
The colours are eyecatching too.
Sylvie

Hey,
Just browsing through your gallery... Better than a tourist brochure of any kind!!

I really liked the humour in this one, so I felt I should write a comment.... But I also like the idea that he never gets tired. That's the spirit!!
Keep it up!

Nune

Hi Hans. Very good one for TL. Novel sculpture for sure. Good to see that beautiful building behind. TFS. Murray.

Hi Hans,
TFS this picture. I, in spite of being Hungarian, have never seen this sculpture before, although I visited the castle of Buda a few times. :) I really like not only the photo, but the humour here (life is about fun... beside women). Cheerz from Hongrije (is the spelling good?), László

Hi Hans,
so that's you, hanging around my city :))) Great idea you've caught the situation perfectly.
