wow, a perfect portrait from the wonderland~ beautiful golden light and the softed tone.. everything here was nice,the shadow,the closer view with the further landscape,and especially the smile of the girl!

The pose is excellent, and the sky behind a reminder to who ever made this hay to hurry up and get it in! hehehe (Was from a farm myself.)

Touching composition!. The almost dual tone shot creates a very impressive mood. The contrast between the golden yellow and that stormy grey sky is superb. the light and shadows and that infinite background just make the shot unique.

it's strange,most of the things in the pic are yellow, but gives a wonderful contrast at the end.the little girl is so cute and smiley;the sky is well tried.so, congratulations.

The things that really grab you about this image are the lighting and colors. That much is awesome. I also really like how sharp it is... how much detail you can see in the straw and the contrast between the sharpness there and the softness in the sky.

But... what keeps bothering me is that everything is so vivid and sharp and easily seen ... except her face. I have a hard time focusing on her face. Almost like it is out of focus (which I doubt) but especially because her face is in the dark.

An on-camera flash would have filled in the shadows nicely. Even better still would have been a reflector - except that you usually don't have one of those with you unless you had planned on taking the photos.

To help "save" this kind of photo, you could use PhotoShop CS (or CS2) and the shadow adjustment. Alternatively, you could simply try dodging the area around her face with a small brush. You don't need much. Just enough to make her face more visible.

The other thing that I think would help this picture would be a non-centered composition. Remember the rule of thirds when composing the photo ... put the subject along one of the thirds.

And if you have very many days when you have a sky like that and colors that vivid .. just keep shooting because you're getting some awesome colors there! :-)

Hi Tibor, I like the colors, the composition, and the girl's pose. The dark clouds contrasted against the bright yellow hay is really incredible! Maybe a fill flash could have made the girl's face show up a little better, or perhaps you could lighten her face up a bit in Photoshop. But anyway this is a great photo. Thanks for sharing!

Tibor, I just saw your photograph on the main gallery when I opened up TL. It is a very nice composition of colours. I do agree with other s here that the girl's face should have been more clear?... more light on her perhaps. It is focused but the lighting conditions unfortunately were not on your side this afternoon.

I tried to do a bit of workshop on it to correct the lighting on the face, with the adjustment on CS photoshop. However, I decided not to post it as it would not do any justice to the entire photo. I think it is good enough the way you have it. Next time flash.

Good to see that after two years of posting it, you are still getting some mileage on this one. Keep it coming.
