Fisherman's Bastion is a terrace in Neo-Gothic and Neo-Romanesque style situated on the Buda bank of the Danube, on the Castle Hill in Budapest, around Matthias Church. It was designed and built between 1895 and 1902 on the plans of Frigyes Schulek. Its seven towers represent the seven Magyar tribes that settled in the Carpathian Basin in 896.

The Bastion takes its name from the guild of fishermen which was responsible for defending this stretch of the city walls in the Middle Ages. It is a viewing terrace, with many stairs and walking paths.

In 1987 the Castle Hill, Buda and the banks of the Danube were included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

p.s. It's not my fault, really, that the trees steal the view of this magnificent Bastion...I didn't have a better angle of shot, going nearer would've forced me to cut the image. I also cloned out annoying objects like a lamp (similar to the one seen in the ws), it was crossing the image right in the middle, a trash bin and some other elements I thought might be disturbing.

Hi Diana,

Nice architecture shot. Interesting note.
Thank you
-Josée

Hi Diana,
nicely composed, i like the big part of the leaf in front of this castle, well done!
TFS,

Armel.

Foarte frumoasa! Imi place cum se vede cladirea printre copaci, buna claritate.
Am vazut-o si pe cea din WS, frumoasa de asemenea, acolo copacii sunt mai bine luminati.
O zi frumoasa,
Sorina

Hi,
Interesting architecture on your picture. Clear details and colours. I congratulate and greet. Wiesiek

hi Diana
I think that Fisherman's Bastion must be shown at its best with minimum cover of trees etc.
the trees are too dark and they also hide a big part of one of Budapest's most famous sites. The part shown in the photo has perfect color and clarity.
regards
Tsilla

Hi Diana,
I can remember I stood there too :-) But I didn't made such a great shot as you did. Excellent one from Budapest!
My compliments.
Hans

Hello, Diana -
Wow, Budapest has some amazing architecture and you are capturing it very well! I like your POV with the arch centered at the bottom (shame about the trees, but what can you do?). The intricate details at the top of the building are clear and well-shown. Excellent colors, informative note. Well done.

Another great landscape here!
i love hoy you positioned the entrance on this photo!
Congratulations!

TFS!

Hi Diana
I love the way the dark trees frame the steeple of the church while
having the opening for the entrance.
Having the dark and the light colors works beautifully for this shot.
Very sharp you show us the intricate works of this beautiful architecture.
Great job
Dot

Hi Black,

Fantastic shot, great details, textures and sharpness, I also like how you have the trees as a natural framing to begin with, the white frame is just nice, very well captured,

Have a great weekend,

Cheers,
Sweety

Hi Diana,
Beautiful composition,beautiful place,best regards.
Ralf

Hi Diana

This is a great example of using nature as a frame. Those trees certainly do this well and the architecture of the terrace and church is impressive.

Good metering and sharpness, a great posting! TFS.
