[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Dear Friends,

It was long time ago I uploaded anything to TrekLens. Not because I'd like to disappear from the site, but my sparetime's really short, and having fantastic fungi season here, TrekNature got priority in my uploads. Plus I became member of a local fungi club, and was asked to be one of the photographers of our website.

Yesterday, with my older son, we visited the 760 mm gauge line of State Forest Railways of Pálháza, a nice privatbahn. Pálháza (meaning "Paul's House") is a small town with ca. 2000 inhabitants, located in the Zempléni-hegység ("Zemplénian Mountains"), ca. 100 kilometers from my hometown, Miskolc. The line was connected (before 1980) to a huge, 132 kilometers long narrow gauge system owned by the Hungarian State Railways, but in that year, deeply in the dark communistic era the regime decided to stop the traffic on most part of the system, the rails were picked up, and the 9 kilometers long "privatbahn" remained isolated, without any connection in a sparsely populated area. Between 1980 and 1989 it didn't work at all, so it's a miracle now it transports passengers 3 times a day, from May to September. The place which makes the line famous is Kőkapu, a ranch with castle hotel and a nice lake. The inferior terminus is Rostalló, another ranch with pension.

It was the 1st time we were there, on the local part of the Day of Narrow-Gauge Railways event series. After we ate the dinner, the little diesel locos showed a mini-parade to us, photographers.

This is also the 1st pic I publish on the Treks, which I shot with my new camera. After months of saving, 3 weeks ago I managed to buy my dream equipment, Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ-50.

Tech talk: weather became cloudy for afternoon. Shot in JPG, changed hue (very little) on the whole pic and contrast selectively, framing, signing, re-sizing. I hope You like it and I also hope my long note didn't bore You too much.

I do like it, Lazlo. The shooting angle gives a great perspective, and your note explains well what you tried to accomplish here. At first glimpse, I thought for a moment, this was a model set, but, of course, the background indicates it is not.

I like the way you’ve captured them nearly parallel on converging lines. It is almost as if there were a certain double entendre in your title – the abbreviated form of locomotive and, if the two railcars had been in motion, the prospect of a crash that would be well, loco, in the Spanish sense.

We will look forward to seeing more from you and your new camera.

Congratulations!
Jim

Hello Laszlo,

I'm amazed by the contrast in your fields of interest, heavy engines and fungi..!
And you photograph both well, as I recall from TN and see here...
The two workhorses are depicted with fine details!

Greetings,
Pablo -

Hello lazlo,

How are you?
It's a very beautiful composition with these green trains (or machines)! The colors are great and the frame very nice!

I miss for you and your nice shots.
Kind regards

Hello Laszlo
Really good comp with the two loco's, and nice subtle colours too. The image has that just washed look-like after the rain.
Nice to see a well kept preserved line.
Regads, Leslie

Wonderful shot, Laszlo! Almost whimsical given the size of the locomotives. I like your POV and the diagonal lines of the rails running through the frame. Nicely seen!

Jó látni együtt a két kis mozdonyt. Nagyon jó minőségű a kép, tiszták a felületek élesek a részletek. Gratulálok az új géphez! ;)
