I think this alley is the most popular and most photograped one in Szentendre. It takes you from the Main Square to Curch Hill!

Here's a little history!
The first documented mention of the town originates from 1009, though Szentendre has been populated since the new stone age!
The medieval settlement was built around Church Hill. Its center was the church ordained in Saint Andrew's honour. The town has its name after him.
In 1690 Belgrade was reoccupied by the Turks, and Serbs supporting the Habsburg emperor had to flee. Settlers came from various countries. Serbs from Opovatz, Chiprovatz, Pozharevatz and Belgrade as well as Greeks, Catholic Dalmatians and Bosnians, with each group settling in separate parts of the town. The town soon became famous for its thriving trade, good wine and skillful craftsmen. The narrow houses of Serbian tradesmen are located around the Main Square with a little shop on the ground floor, flat above and storage place in the attic. Narrow alleys join the houses together....
Just like this one. This might be one of the oldest alley in town! :)
... Are you still with me?? ;))

PP: Just put an omni light on it to increase the effect! :)) N-joi!

Great perspective shot! And a very informative note about the town's history! Very well done!

Hey Tom,
Another cool little alleyway. Nice lighting and good perspective. I love places like this. Nicely done! JP

Wow, Tom!! it's great!! you captured this one wonderfully! and looking how narrow this passage is, I know it wasn't an easy job at all! I love this stony path, and the light is just wonderful, bravo!!
So, some Serbs from Pozarevac settled there? It's not far from where I live, maybe I have some relatives over there;))
thanks!!
Marija

What an amazing composition this is. Love the POV. The place looks nice and spooky.I like the sharpness of this photo. Very well seen and captured.

Another beautiful picture of your hometown, ToM. I don't remember this alley so I must have missed it on my very short visit. You have handled the difficult situation really well as there was not much light going into the alley but still got good light & sharpness. Your POV really gives the impression of the narrowness of this alley. Well done!

P.S. Tomorrow, I will post my version of your stairway so you will get a chance to see what I had done!!!

Hi Tom,
Like on Alley #1, another very well done picture. Great composition and POV. Fantastic depth an light. Well done

Hehe, what a familiar place I can see here :)
Like the compo and the promising light in the end of the "tunnel". Good tones also. Is this the one you can buy "lángos" (scone) in the middle?
I love Szentendre as well, as it is said, a jewel box in the Danube band.
Dear ToM, thanks for sharing, and +thanks for your interesting notes!
Szia,
Marcie

Very nice rendering of such a small ally way. A real testimony of the history that walked through it.

Hah, Tom, I see what you're talking about! This is a beautiful alley, I didn't know it was so often photographed. I just noticed it as we walked by and had to take a picture. Your town is beautiful. I'd like to go back sometime to enjoy it more!

Very nice captured Tom. I like the perspective view. Good in sharpness & the colours are great.

Very nice shot Tom. A great mood and I like it.

1009? The history of Europe amazes me. NZ was inhabited by Europeans 200 years ago!
Excellent POV ToM. I love you OLD alley, especially the paving bricks that have curved over the years with everyone walking on them. And can I see a little graffiti on the front right wall? Year 2000 - sign of the times. Well shown, thank you.

Hi Tom,
Gret photo, great angle and great colors. You played very well the soft colors and the light.
Great job,
Best regards,
José
