Good morning peeps,

Yesterday I got a message from Karin telling me that she will go and visit Iceland next summer.
Her message triggered me to post another picture of our trip there. So this one is especially for Karin and her husband!

What you are looking at here, is the crater of the Krafla volcano and one of Krafla's hot water plants. Over here are many of these "energy plants"...
Pipes of 2km lenght are drilled into the ground and the hot water is pumped up and distributed through (ugly) pipes all over the country.
This certainly is the most effective and the cheapest way to have hot water for the Icelandic people, but we could not get used to the smell of it. Specially in the shower!!! We never really have the feeling of being clean.
Fact is though, that the water in Iceland is of the purest and cleanest quality one can ever have!!

Anyway.. I sure hope that Karin and her husband will have the best trip ever when going to Iceland!

PP-talk: not much to talk about here, I just cloned out a small pole in the foreground and I added a little sharpness and just a tad of saturation.

Enjoy!!!!
Anneke

.
Karin, this will be yet another place that you will never forget - hope you will have a wonderful time in Iceland.

Hi Anneke,
Great photo of the geothermal energy plant, I can see that this time you were lucky with the weather. The sky looks pretty, while the exposition of the snow spots are also good.
It's a pleasure to see this cheap and environment-friendly way of producing energy. TFS.
Greetings,
Kristof

Hi Anneke,

It's a beneficial information you shared with us here . .
The picture shows the idea on how they pump the water from the inner part of the earth . . Definitely it has smell of sulphur which for certain people can't handle it . . and yes, you are right, feeling not clean water . .
Great presentation my dear friend

Tfs,
Tjutjut

Hello Anneke, nice presentation along with informative note. I can understand what you all would've gone thru' with that sulphur smell water as I also once had the same experince when toured a town of Indian Himalayas where we had to use water of one sulphur geyser!
Anyways,Nice smooth and clear picture!

Cheer&Smiles,
Shubhi:)

Something definately "alien" about this landscape - give the sky another colour and it could be another world. Interesting composition and lots of points of interest across the picture and I love the contrast in colours.
Thanks for sharing
Mark

Hi Anneke.
Well thanks so much for thinking of me while you posted this geoscience and energy related photo. That is my "thing" and you did not even know it -- or maybe you did?
I've watched a couple CDs about Iceland from the library and note that it might be raining lots. I also noted how the sky can be a lot brighter and therefore the need for a ND Grad filter as you advised me.
This photo is a good documentary photo. Very crisp. The note is cute and informative. Thanks so much for all your encouragement. TFS. Karin

Ciao Anneke, fantastic view from Island with splendid light and colors, superb sky and fascinating reflections, very well done, ciao Silvio
