Hello Everyone,
Just back from a wonderful Land ,Iceland is the name of that place i was during my recent vacation .I wish here to introduce a friend of mine (well as far as a 'normal' relation goes between an animal like a sheep and a human ...lol ) to you as my honest contribution to this Friday's theme .I found this fellow very tame , sociable and not like any other sheep in the herd even been able to pat him without a grunt or any attempt to flee as is usually, well always really when approached even from the other side of the fence ....A cool fellow he was ! He did not mind my taking a picture of him too !
The little red roofed building is the Krysuvik chapel, very near the geothermal field of the same name on the Reykjanes Peninsula .
Played with contrast , highlights and sharpening before releasing this one as i was not very satisfied with the result under the still visibly cloudy condition i had then , thus i made the proper corrections to my liking ! Hope you like my good-natured 'Chummy ' too.
Iso 80, 1/160, f/5.0 taken with my new camera : Sony DSC-H50,
Thank to all of you looking and leaving a critique,
Carol

Hi Carol!

Simple great!

Hi, Carol!

Fantastic shot! Excellent composition with fine tones, anf good sharpness. Special mood. Superb!

jazmin

Carol,

A fantastic level of detail, which gives this shot a very painterley feel and, one could argue, a fairly deep symbolic connection between sheep, church and wilderness which adds a subliminal strength to the image - even if you think you're just taking a nice sheep snap!

Regards
Colin

Hello Carol
Its a holy picture.
The little church and grass make really a special atmosphere.
Very special shot.
Congrats.
Peter.

So this is where you've been hiding!! I REALLY love this picture! The little church is adorable and your new friend is lovely. A cute (rather lazy) pose in such LONG GRASS! Very nice composition and colors, and the bg landscape is beautiful! TFS

Really lovely atmosphere!
Very beautiful composition!

Hello Carol, it looks cold and very windy, the sheep certainly needs its woolly coat.
Lovely sharp details, and good colours.
In your composition you give us a close up of this friendly sheep, and in the background the landscape.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Hello Carol,

First thing I noticed was the superb DoF followed by the nice sharpness of this shot, even under the somewhat flat cloudy lighting. Your post work certainly helped to bring up the natural colors and textures that the muted lighting was trying to hide.
Very nicely done, composed and presented with a particularly interesting and effective PoV.
TFS,
Wilt
p.s. I want to do Iceland some day, now even more so. :)

Hi Carol,
A fine composition of the sheep and the curch in the background. Despite the poor weather a fine image of Iceland!
Hans

Hi Carol,

This certainly looks like a "happy sheep" (ram). The details of your pastoral scene are very calming and peaceful. All of the green and beige tones make for a nice composition. I like how you have also included the building to the left.

thanks for sharing, Lisa

hello Carol,

welcome back from your vacation :) so you got yourself a H50 similar like mine the H7 in weighted and size only the function a bit different which i think yours are much better :)

anyway back to your shot.. very soft colours which i like.. good shot of this place with your new friendly friend and lovely small Church at the back.. looks windy.. well composed with lovely detail.. tfs..

regards, terry

Excellent Portrait.

Hi Carol,
So glad to finally see you back here!!! I hope that you have reallly enjoyed Iceland as much as we did!

This is such a recognizable picture! and the story too! I wanted to capture the sheep there as well, but they kept on running away from me!! hahahahah
You managed to get a beautiful shot of a beautiful sheep!!!
I really like this shot with the chapel in the background and the ever threatening sky...

Welcome back here!
Anneke

Hi Carol,
Fantastic shot from a fantastic country. Tomorrow I'll post my contributing to this theme from the same place ;).
Perfectly sharp and details photo of this Icelandic sheep. Despite the difficult light condition, the image has splendid colours and nowhere overexposed. The composition became full with this lovely small church, I think saw this church, too (but it was raining like hell, so couln't take to many photos there:)).
Great job, TFS!
Greetings,
Kristof

Hi Carol
Realy awsome picture and scene
Great work

Hi Carol - lovely shot, well composed and sharp throughout. Looks a little windswept, I think I'd want the wooly coat.
Maybe I'd crop a little of the sky out - being that uniform cloudy grey it doesn't contribute much to the scene - and go for a more panoramic style here. Just a thought....
Cheers
David

Hello Carol

A really superb shot here, very nice balance and good sharp detail. I love the soft catchlight in the eyes and the chapel has perfect placement here.

TFS and for joining in the theme

Kind regards Helen

Hi Carol

I so no sheep’s in the month off May during my trip in Iceland on this spot perhaps they where hiding off perhaps waiting for you to make its picture.

Bonjour mon ami Carol

Mes hommages.

Iso.

Yes, I like it !
You didn't were tempted ( hope it's English ) to
add " just a little more saturation ".
It's quite naturelle this way.
Good mood : just a single building, one sheep
and for the rest ... just nature ... bit foggy, wind, etc ...

The " but " ?
Well I think if you didn't got the sheep that close
meaning a ( bit ) more wider composition
( not a mini-sheep ... :-) )
the feeling of
" it's hard, it can be lonely here but it's beautiful "
could be more intense.

I can appriciate people who can make friends easily.
Even it is with a sheep.
LOL :-p

TFS
Jan
