STATE FUNERAL

«Parnell will never come again, he said.
He’s there, all that was mortal of him. Peace to his ashes».
James Joyce, Ulysses

This second photo of my «GAELIC DAYS» serial in homage to the Irish and Gaelic culture was taken in the «Glendalough Monastery» in a rainy day, and it is dedicated to James Joyce (1882-1941).

Joyce was an irish novelist, noted for his experimental use of language in such works as Ulysses (1922) and Finnegan’s Wake (1939).

Joyce's technical innovations in the art of the novel include an extensive use of interior monologue; he used a complex network of symbolic parallels drawn from the mythology, history, and literature, and created a unique language of invented words, puns, and allusions.

Hello Jose,

Very 'dark' and moody picture. You created a great atmosphere and the choice of B&W was just perfect, of course;)
Interesting idea, great execution.

Iza

Hi Jose
An excellent dedication to J.J. and a splendid capture. It has the mood of the eerie of the northern countries, a chilly feeling of mystique. The diagonal is excellent and the contrasts enhance the mood of the cemetery.

Jose,
Nice shot, a bit morbid but a nice capture. Good choice using B&W here.
Regards,
Kevin

Excellent Jose and very fitting to go with your notes. Well converted and the resulting image has lovely tones and textures. TFS,
David

Hello Jose!
Good B&W composition! Beautiful contrast and details! Interesting note!
TFS, Best regards, Zorica

Hi Jose,
The grim toning of B&W suits the scene. I like the flying birds ... like condors which circles around dead carcasses ... adds perspective to the scene. Well captured and presented. Well done! tfs
Cheers,
Renier

hi José,
nice and suggestive image, the black and white increase the dark atmosphere of it, beautiful picture

O p&b ficou magnifico aumentando a carga dramática.
Bom fim-de-semana,
Aida

Hi Jose

Ulysses is the only novel I never finished - despite that I like your photo :) The BW conversion works well for the mood of the shot.

Karan

P.S. have you read it?

Perfect composition, fantastic mood! Superb shot, my friend.

Sad and sofisticated this taken. It's seems a film's sceene. Black birds create right suspense.

the b&w works well to generate an intense atmosphere here, also pleasant balance of the compo - with the trees on the left, hill on the right and the gaelic cross in the middle.

Hi Jose,
A very dark and intriguing mood created here. The shades of grey add well to the cold wintry weather. Beautiful composition from a good POV. The birds add to the mood.
