Since 1993, Sassi have been declared UNESCO World Heritage. They are symbol of a peasant life but also a wonderful example of Urban Architecture, in fact all the houses are carved into the calcareous rock.

Lovely shot. I like your composition, the angle from right down to left, it really accentuates the hill that the houses are on.

What a beautiful view Gigi,I know the famous "Sassi" of Matera and its usefulness, but I never can see it...
It has a fantastic colour and very nice sharpness.

this is very well defining that pretty city;it is nice to know it has been declared in Unesco Word Heritage List,it looks to be actually.the pic is well lighted,clouds are not necessary but added the pic here,city is sharp ,and has a nice silhouette.

Very nice view of this beautiful city. We went there on our vacation this past October and I was fascinated by this city. We walked all over and could not get enough of it. It is however not a very photogenic place because of the dullness of the colours and the chaotic architecture. I think you did well here and give a very good testimony of this beautiful city. Excellent!

P.S. I had missed this picture when you first published it (for some obscure reasons) and just came across it and could not resist leaving you a comment. I guess "better late than never".
