Perhaps very late
our dreams joined
at the top or at the bottom,
up above like branches moved by a common wind,
down below like red roots that touch.
- Neruda
Where is the forest
not cut down
for profit or literature
whose blossoms instead
will close the heart
- Ondaatje
It certainly was a languid day. Slow walks through Sorrento, beautiful horizons along the Bay of Naples and so much sustenance coming from the delicious food and the laughter of friends and strangers. We spent too much money and didn't get lost enough ... it was beautiful from morning to night. The night was perhaps the sweetest of all, the city was lit up naturally by the moon and the sound of dogs crooning to each other through howls ... and when the night turned back to the morning, the rooster greeted the city. Nobody could sleep that night. A glorious 24 hours.
This was taken in the eye of the day.
