[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I arrived in Rome around 8pm, called the hotel that I booked in from a phone booth coz my Virgin sims from UK & France were not working and I couldn't find a store that could reload talk time from a Belgian chip. I didn't know that there were booths for Vodafone sim in the train station, I later got it, a day after. So the cab sped up to my hotel, I freshened up and immediately went out to see Rome for the first time. I didn't know where to go, I just walked and walked. I saw some lighting effects from afar, some indirect lighting to an old structure. I thought it was the aqueduct, I almost went back but my curiosity got me back on track and continued walking... and lo and behold... the curving of the Colosseo revealed itself arch by arch. I was excited, I almost ran! There is still some positive thing by being spontaneous and not planning ahead although I am not advising it.
I reached the site, took lots & lots of pictures. I didn't even realize that I was alone... the famous landmark was all for me, no distraction, unlike the following days were tourist had packed the site. I wasn't aware of the history, so many people died here from the wars and gladiatorial games of the past and there might have been ghosts from Aelius Maximus Decimus Meridius or Nero lurking from behind. I kept shooting, w/ a borrowed cam from Jervic.
I chose this one. I hope you like the postcard composition I made.

J'aime beaucoup cette lumière qui fait bien ressortir l'architecture du bâtiment. Le seul regret est le ciel totalement noir, l'idéal étant de pouvoir prendre la photo au crépuscule juste avant le coucher du soleil...
A part cela, bravo et merci pour le partage.

Hi Freddie,
I like this pic as I'm fascinated by this time era. It is a shame that the top is nipped but what's done is done right? Love the glow of the lights in the darkness...makes me imagine this is close to how it would look way back in time with the torches lit, while inside some cruel fighting is happening and blood being shed for the spectators amusement.
