Together with the cluster of Bonzanigo and Azzano it forms the Commune of Mezzegra.
The settlement has been documented since 1049.
Mussolini's last night
On the 28th April 1945, before the gate of a villa at Via XXIV (24) Maggio, Benito Mussolini and Claretta Petacci were killed. The day before, they were captured by the partisans at Dongo, as they were attempting to escape to Switzerland. After many unsuccesful attempts to take them down to the town of Como, they were brought to Giulino di Mezzegra as prisoners and put in the house of the De Maria Family, where they spent their last night. |

I simply love your lanscapes in b/w and this one is not exception. Reminds the charm of the great italian movie masters like Fellini, Visconti, De Sica. I feel the same mood.
