[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I have shown two distant views of Etna so I thought I would show a shot on Etna itself. You can see the SE crater in the BG. This crater erupted just two days before I took this shot. I loved the fact I had hot feet and yet was walking in the snow.

For the ancient Greeks, the mountain housed the workshop of Hephaestus, otherwise known as Vulcan, the god of fire and metalwork, and was home to the giant one-eyed monster, Cyclops.

Another myth said that Typhon, a 100-headed monster who was the son of earth goddess Gaia, was trapped under Mount Etna by Zeus after he tried to rebel, and he has been spitting out his angry flames ever since.

Virgil described the volcano in The Georgics, written in 29 BC: "Yea, how often have we seen/Etna, her furnace-walls asunder riven,/In billowy floods boil o'er the Cyclops' fields,/And roll down globes of fire and molten rocks!"

And Homer placed the cave of Polyphemus, the Cyclops who captured Odysseus and his comrades, on Etna's slopes.

Hello Karan,
play of fire and the ice, impressive. Understands what you want to say by delivering your impressions to us on this experiment.
To know that the crater was put in activity right two days before you wouldn't be gone up to this place must make odd all the same.
But the tourists are not sent to this place if there were an important danger, I already heard it.
You made well put to give to the size between Etna and us to us, poor human tiny in front of a "monster" of lava. Is one it control but what the human one against such a force of nature? Good exposure.

I like these shots,it gives me a better understanding of Etna .The perspective and POV is well done.Seeing the tourists on the mountain side really adds to the shot.Nicely composed,the mountain looks harsh and the snow is a bit dirty and it contrasts well with the beautiful blue sky.TFS

Hi Karan,
The title could also have been: "Contrast to the Top", because you have a few contrasts in this image. White/black, hot/cold, light/dark. You managed to capture it very well, with a good composition, making it an interesting picture.
