After the vestiges of Pompéï, here a artwork of Bernini. Catched in the City of the Vatican in Rome. The first thing you notice upon arrival in Via della Conciliazione is the massive Basilica and the columns that have precise meaning. It is attributed to a painting by Bernini, where the Basilica appears as a human figure, with the head represented by the dome and the arms represented by the columns. The enormous space consists of 284 columns and 140 statues of saints.

The last autumn, our friend Tournesol had presented of it a view really not banal:

Looking Up

PP work:
- Resized
- Adjustment of the lights and dark tone
- Very soft sharpen
- Framed

sharp and crisp. a unique angle is presented here. i like all the pillars lining up from the front to the back. if possible i would to see the hallway in full, i.e. including the floor as well. great photo.

And in addition to my other critique of the photo before this, I love this to. Fantastic!
Bye bye
Josine

Salut Annie,
Luc

Hello Annie
Wonderfull photo and great story. Infact I am very happy with your nice photo.. since I learned also something .. you can see it in the WS I made for you (and for myself ^__^ ) It has to do with the ''converger'' The problem we all have with photo's like this. Once I did read, there are special lenses used by architects etc. to correct this on the spot .. but oh my .. these lenses are expensive Anyway Annie..thanks for a fantastic and interesting photo. Bravo
John

Different!
Good rhytm, leading in the unknown.

Hi Annie,
This has excellent composition. Great lines and curves everywhere in this shot. The light was excellent here. Very nice!
Scott

I like this curved perpestive of columns and the light.

Bravo !

Mario

Wow !! Impressive POV and fantastic composition. Lovely overall lighting and detail.
Vassilis

P.S. Thank you very much for your kind comments.

Annie, a masterpiece, I love it, it has a surreal feel to it. I love the columns on top of each other.
Regards, thanks for sharing..
Michael

a very good comp, love all the lines, the colours and the light, well done, thanx, M, (*_*)

Tres joli!

Bonne journee, Yan :)

There are times Annie when we can throw any thoughts of vertical alignment away and this is one of them. Excellent POV, lovely soft muted colours and very well presented. TFS,
David

Hi Annie, Majestic! I'm amaze by the architecture of the columns. The light is so high. I wonder how they gonna light it up? Well captured!

Hi Annie,
This is a fabulous shot! You have managed to capture the lines of the structure very well. Great job.
Sunil

Very well executed, love those curves and lines...and the colours looks so rustic...very nice.

Bravo!

Pompéï, Rome good times
I have been there and remember it well. Great trip with my children
All the art civilization from the past.
No hint to the Dan Brown story?
If you have seen Rome it is a joy to read it
Good photo but I wanted it to change as well.
Looked in the WS and this is close to what I had done

i don't want to sound too repetitious, i like this shot for the symmetry and the use of light colours that potentially could have turned disastrous!

some of the areas within this photo have noise that creates a crispness level which makes it seem too surreal. the surrounding area next to the lamp, makes the ceiling look like it's glowing and i guess that should have been somewhat toned down!

overall a great shot!
-Bartek

A stunning, very Italianate, place and a stunning aspect. Much enjoyed, due to the content that you already know about ;)
Have you read 'Angels & Demons'? Bernini features quite a lot. When last in Rome and here, that book opened my eyes to a few things about the place.

Hello!
I like this shot with its composition. It's never easy to work with vertical shapes but you made a great capture full of very good graphism too.Excellent light, contrast and colours tone.
Regards, Francesco

Hello Annie.
Great notes and a lovely photo.John Tulip has done a nice workshop and made good improvements to your photo.
Good sharp capture with nice colours.Excellent POV.
Well done.TFS.
Best wishes from Australia.
Robert

I really like this photos for it's POV and the perspective effect. It gives me the sensation of wanting to know what's behind the end column. The light is nice, but there seems to be no distance between the end tunnel. It would give it more depth. Obviously you can only achieve this by trying to take the photo earlier or later in the day or by Photoshop.

I tied a workshop to depict what I mean.

Hello Annie
I got this POV too, however it wasn't so perfect in compo, light or graphic effect like this one of yours. This is realy a beautiful and luminous photo with excelent sharpness and colours and a powerful composition.
Have a great we
