[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Venice is a place that needs little introduction. It is hard to imagine it is reality, especially for those who have never been there. It's improbable existance fascinates myself and everyone who sets foot here. It is another world with a style unmatched anywhere on the planet.

This image was taken on the Grand Canal, what I think of as "Main Street"

techincal details: This photo was taken @28mm and then combined with a black and white layer (created by a channel mix with the blues set to low, then overlayed as a darkening layer) to bring out the clouds. The original posting had ended there, but then after some critiques here about the darkness and a workshop, I revisited the modified image and simply put the blue back in. The result I am happy with - all colors are the same as the original image except for the blues which were more of a cyan in the original. A picture from the about the same place with the natural sky colors can be seen at www.trekearth.com/gallery/Europe/Italy/photo100158.htm

Très spéciale cette image dans sa tonalité générale. Il s'en dégage une ambiance toute particulière que j'aime bien. Très réussie!
Bye, Jacques

I love Venezia, I speak a little Italian, so it brings close to me. I like the perspective, and the storm colours on the sky. I also traveled on Canal Grande with a water cab, very funny and also touched by the time.
Thanks for sharing, and bringing back the memories...

There was a similar shot here the other day, but this one really has it all. You picked a great POV. If I say THE VENICE POSTCARD I mean that positively. Only thing is it seems a little dark, but that could be my screen. But on the whole I always clarify and sharpen a little extra before posting, because it seems to me that when they come up on other screens our shots often need that.

A very nice view of the Grand Canal. Venice is a beautiful and very different city. We enjoyed 2 days there on a tour of Italy a couple of years ago. This brings back some happy memories. I like the way the eye is guided to the background by the length of the canal. Nice composition.

Great picture, found back the memories i have of venice!the atmospehere is great and fits!
Happy cause i´ll go back there in february again...cannot wait!thanks for this post!
