Michaelangelo Simonetti's Spiral Staircase, Vatican Museum

It's very awkward to get this POV. I had to really stretch my hands and endure the look of lots of people and the whistle of the guards, but at least I took a very nice memento for me that I can cherish forever. And I was able to go down these steps! Im lucky! :)

==============
To exit the Vatican museum you have to walk down this incredibly beautiful long spiral staircase made of many many shallow steps. You cannot run down this staircase. The handrail is an intricately carved wonder of craftsmanship, dazed by the wonders you saw, barely able to stand upright, neck still craned from gazing at the Sistine chapel.

Some might consider the stairs inefficient, even unusable. There is a partially hidden elevator for those who cannot use stairs at all-- but the stairs are so low-rising, so shallow that the oldest granny who has not yet resorted to a walker can totter down them. And only young kids would grow impatient-- the stairs permit the art to settle in your mind. The circle down is a mediatative labyrinth.

Many times you've exited a museum only to run into the back of someone who is come to a full halt, unable to cope with the bright sunlight and screaming traffic. The Vatican has no such issue.

It has pattern, transitioning between viewing space and life.

Nice colours.

Hello Freddie,

Superbe escalier (coupe anatomique d'une amonite ?).
Jolie spirale et belles couleurs, la composition décentrée est bien rendue, et en fait une petite oeuvre d'art abstrait comme j'aime.
Bravo

A real nice geometry of stairs, but - sorry to say this - suffocated by inadequate or utterly unecessary framing. The scene is a real beauty, but there is an obvious lack of focus, which I would prefer to rest on the top sphere of stairs. I am somewhat 50:50 about the whole package, which does not bring into question the well deserved points.

Great pov! although it seem to lose the sharpness and colors. Still great to me though.

This is an wonderful subject and your POV is good but I can't say the same about the compo and the focus.
Is this a crop or the original ?

v
ps.I've tried to enhance its beauty. see my WS and tell me waht do you think

Hello Freddie

Your effort was worth the results you got. This is a very nice spiral indeed.

:) smiley's tomorrow

wonderful composition though the focus could have been a bit better. I see you took ther shot at F2.8 where you should have gone for maybe F11, that way the upper staircase would also have been in focus and turned this photo into the stunning class, as it is, a very good photo.

jaco

great shaped ala snail-like formation, great pov sir!

Beautiful grafic, nice crop, selam...

Hi Freddy. Good composition of this spiral staircase. These are certainly a please to look and and use as well as photograph for trekers. Good POV for this fine shot. TFS. Murray.

Beautiful shot...Rome and Venice are much evocative, but my Italy is rich of images to photograph, from Piedmont to Sicily... makes me to know when you will return to us!
