[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This was taken in the Palazzo Medici-RRiccardi in Florence Italy, home of the Medici family from 1444-1540. This room was just stunning, a huge painted ceiling in the Sala di Luca Giordano room, painted by the Neapolitan artist Apotheosis of the Medici, in splashy baroque style. The room was simply stunning with gilt carvings and painted mirrors adorning the walls and the entire ceiling painted with scenes similar to this closeup. I was really impressed by the vibrant colors despite the age of the paintings. I used the timer to take a photo of myself so I could actually have some photos of me in Italy. No tripod, so the angle is a bit weird. It still seems unreal to me that I was actually there!

I know the angle is weird because your camera was on the floor, but, I actually kind of like it. The colors are very rich and saturated, and maybe it lends to the "rococo(?) style" art that's all in that room. However, the exposure seems too long; the light bulbs are blown out and so is the details of the back window. The room seems to have a lot of inward perspective, but, it's not really an issue. I think it works because of your composition. It's good to see that you're not standing in the center like a big target. I congradulate you on that! Good job! Thanks for sharing!

Wow! This sure looks good with all the lights you look like a movie star. I think without the red leather coat you'd just blend right in to all that art. I think the angle works, without it you'd have missed that gorgeous ceiling. Excellent shot, the only thing that's missing is me!

Very well realised and good idea! Colors and details make this photo very effective.

Wonderful shot! Nice perspective and composition with warm lighting to complement the beautiful artwork. This is one of those shots where it's ok to put a person right in the middle.

Well, I guess it helped not ti have a tripod this time, because the angle from which you shot this is fantastic as it gives a great dimension to the room. Good work!!

very nice picture, i like the colours and the fact that you imrovized and took a picture in this fashion, memory for ever.

This is a cool portrait, a unique way to include yourself but still show location and tell a story. I'm assuming flash photography was off-limits?

You got the composition very well and the colours of the room and the pieces of art are very impressive. The DOF is great too. Well done.
