Baldacchino
Commissioned by Urban VIII in 1624, Bernini's extravagant Baroque canopy stands above the Papal Altar, a plan slab of marble, at which only the pope may say mass. The altar is sited directly above the tomb of St. Peter in the Grottoes below. Above it is the Michaelangelo's magnificent dome (137-m (448-ft), that was not completed until 1590, long after his death.

Composition:
POV: in the inner sanctum. I shot this discreetly while someone is confirmed as a cardinal. You can see my left shoulder in a leather jacket, I couldn't raise my cam or I'd be frowned upon. It's like a stolen shot :)

Hello Fred
How much I like the point of view and composition of this shot!
A really beautiful presentation.
Very good job!
My compliments and TFS.
Maite

Hi, Freddie!

A stolen photograph! How great! :P
I like this shot a lot. The composition is great, the colours are great, the detail is great...It's just great!
I think a bit of contrast would help the picture a bit, but otherwise, I like it a lot.

TFS,
Hannah

What? Pictures not allowed there? I'm with Hannah on this one: a little more contrast would be good. Otherwise: credible job, considering the circumstances. Baroque and Renaissance mix well in this compo.
Cheers
Otto

Original POV, beautiful colours.
Good thinking about the frame : it covers up your shoulder.

Well done !

Jan

nICE pov, Great representation of this masterpiece.
