Boxed Up Cathedral
I arrived in Milan via a sleeper train w/ a Venice-Vaduz-Paris-Milan route. When I reached my hotel w/ all the fuss of getting there (train crashes and a bit of delay), I just left my luggage and things to the concierge service and proceded to this site, just to learn that it's under a total makeover and it was drizzling cold. After seeing one of the most famous gothic church in the world all boxed up, I strolled down the shopping center on it's left which is also grand to visit. There are lots of Filipinos here and they were happy to see a kabayan visiting. I listened to their stories, their lives in Italy and how they managed to come here. I cancelled my plan of touring the next day and proceeded to Firenze. I know 'twas not the right time to visit Milan, there would be next time :)

Milan Cathedral (Italian: Duomo di Milano) is the cathedral of Milan in Lombardy, northern Italy. It is the seat of the Archbishop of Milan, currently His Eminence Dionigi Cardinal Tettamanzi. The cathedral is famous throughout the world for its significance in the promulgation of the Christian faith, for its role in the establishment of Catholic traditions of worship, its outstanding musical heritage and the splendour of its Gothic architecture.

Built from the late 14th well into the 19th century (and in a sense, never completed as work continues), the Duomo di Milano is one of the world's largest churches, being second in size within Italy only to Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome, and being the second largest Gothic cathedral in the world, after the Cathedral of Seville in Spain.

The interior height of its central nave is surpassed only by the remaining choir of Beauvais Cathedral in France.

Hi Freddie,

I love the Duomo fading into the darkness, the wet floor is also a nice element in your compo.

Wow..ang ganda! I have been to the place too but did not take much picture when I was there with my wife. Captured it in a good detail and the colors are just as nice.

Deserving of more than just 4 points! Great picture, pov - love the title and the billboards around the church, kind of like a conceptional piece of art (Christo).
Cheers
Otto

Beautiful nocturnal shot, Freddie.
You capture the mood very well.
Unfortunately it look almost like a habit in Italy to hang bilboards on this church. See my picture in 2007 ;-)
