Like the "Room With A View" I posted last week this was also taken from my hotel bedroom window in Venice. With this one I had the camera sitting on the edge of the window sill, holding on very tightly.

Hi Derek
Great shot, wonderfull point of view, in the bottom good light, so all over a good shot. I would have use a higher ISO fore example 400 ISO, than perpaps you would have some of the sky on the photo as well.
But good work, and TFS
Regards
Jens.

Hi Derek, looks like a terrific location, well taken on that long exposure without a tripod, very strong composition,no mistaking the location nor the city.Where exactly is this location in Venice,& may I ask what Hotel this was taken from
not being nosy, just that I may visit there this year & this location looks just right to me.

Nice view and composition, I like the light reflections in the water. I would have cropped a bit from the top as, in my opinion, there is too much black.
cheers,
Cristian

Hi Derek! A very unique POV with good timing at night. The cam setting creates a very well exposed result on the water. I'll post my own pic of this subject next time but my POV is on the left of this bridge looking up. It must be wonderful to see Venice at night :)
Cheers!
Freddie :)

Hello, Derek.

This is a stunning picture and you have caught the fabulous lighting perfectly. I'm not sure that I would have cropped it at the top at all - that column on the right (presumably just outside the window) makes a nice strong frame and balances the picture nicely.

But I think a picture of this quality deserves to be shown off to the full. I'm a beginner or novice myself (that's what the word "tyro" means), but I have taken the liberty of doing a simple workshop for you. I hope you won't be offended - see what you think anyway. I've just sharpened it a bit and added a simple frame outside yours.

Another (minor) point: to get the very best out of pictures on these sites, remember you can go up to 800 pixels in width or height and you can also go up to 200Kb file size.

An excellent photograph and thank you for sharing it with us.

Best Wishes,

John.

Hi Derek,
Very effective POV show the lovely canal in very soothing light. Excellent nighttime exposure renders warm contrasting colors and sharp details.
Regards, Tom

Just browsing through your gallery, waiting for new wonderful posts...You're probably too busy putting to use your "new toy" :)
Excellent night view of the bridge! It's not easy to take pictures by night (at least not for me...) but you did a wonderful job!
TFS!

Hi Derek,

Hi Derek.
This a nice image, the white overpass is well detailed, nice reflected water, and overall interest is a the bottom of the image. i think the top part lack a bit of definition, no real horizon and the top of the column is a bit blurr, somehow, it attrack the eye...and become distracting..so i post a new crop image on workshop, to let you see, how i would personnaly crop this image. Don't mind the frame..)) it one of those....))

Hello Derek :)

Very nice nocturnal view ! Lights are superb ... very romantic mood. The POV is so good, a marvellous place you captured there, thanks :o)
Ciao
Marylou

ciao Derek,

Ahhhhh! So mamy years since I as in Venezia! It's interesting to see a photo of this bridge at night and holding one's camera still, unless you have a tri-pod is daunting, if not impossible.

Nice photo.

Richard
